Schnucks Reinforces Quality With “Fresh Guarantee”
If customers are not satisfied with the freshness of their purchase, they will receive a full refund or exchange
ST. LOUIS, June 10, 2026 - Schnuck Markets, Inc. today announced its “Fresh Guarantee” - a formal promise to customers that their purchases from Schnucks’ fresh departments are guaranteed fresh. If customers are not satisfied with the freshness of a perishable item purchased from the grocer’s floral, produce, bakery, deli, meat, seafood or dairy departments, Schnucks will exchange it or issue a full refund for the item - no questions asked.
“At Schnucks, we’re committed to being fanatically fresh, and we strive to ensure we provide our customers with the freshest products possible. Our ‘Fresh Guarantee’ is our personal vow to Schnucks shoppers - one we don’t make lightly - that we stand behind the quality and freshness of our products, without exception," said Schnucks Chief Merchant Kim Gray.
To ensure freshness and quality, Schnucks operates its own Bakery Plant and Floral Design Center, supplying all 112 stores throughout the Midwest with daily shipments of signature baked goods, custom-decorated cakes and fresh floral arrangements.
“Our confidence in the ‘Fresh Guarantee’ comes from the proprietary sourcing programs and expert in-store execution happening behind the scenes every single day. We are proud to put our name on a guarantee this strong because our teams do the daily work to earn our customers' trust,” Gray added.
Schnucks’ standard of freshness is also driven by unique, store-level programs. Schnucks’ expert butchers cut and hand-trim meats – including the Certified Angus BeefⓇ brand – and prepare freshly ground beef and handmade brats daily. Each bakery features donuts made fresh on location every morning, while the produce department offers fruits and vegetables picked for freshness and triple-inspected for quality. The deli offers a wide range of ready-to-eat favorites from premium Dietz & Watson meats and cheeses sliced to order, to Schnucks’ golden fried chicken and hot herb rotisserie chickens (guaranteed to be in stock 3 - 7 p.m. daily), and signature side dishes.
Schnucks’ commitment to freshness extends to all the ways customers choose to shop, as fresh products purchased via Schnucks Delivers and Curbside Pickup are also fully covered by the “Fresh Guarantee.”
“Fresh Guarantee” refund and exchange requests are accepted within seven days of the original purchase and must be accompanied by a paper receipt or an electronic receipt found in the Schnucks Rewards app. Refunds will be provided using the original payment method.
The “Fresh Guarantee” excludes center store packaged groceries, frozen items, markdown items and other commercially-packaged groceries sometimes found in Schnucks' fresh departments. Per USDA regulations, WIC purchases (other than baby formula) may not be returned for a cash refund, but may be exchanged for identical food items if the product is defective, spoiled, or was out of code at the time of sale.
