Grilled Monte Cristo-Style Donuts With Fried Egg

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. Schnucks butter, softened and divided
  • 4 Schnucks glazed donuts, halved horizontally
  • 8 slices black forest ham
  • 8 slices Schnucks Swiss cheese
  • 4 large Schnucks eggs
  • powdered sugar, for garnish
  • fresh mixed berries, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat a stovetop grill pan over medium.
  2. Lightly spread butter all over donuts. Starting with the bottom halves of donuts, add alternating slices of ham and Swiss cheese, then repeat with a second layer of ham and cheese. Finish with the remaining top halves of donuts. Transfer to grill pan and cook until cheese has melted, 2–3 minutes per side.
  3. Meanwhile, in a non-stick skillet, cook eggs to desired doneness. Carefully remove donut tops and gently transfer an egg to each sandwich. Return tops. Transfer to a serving platter and serve dusted with powdered sugar and scattered with berries.
