Schnucks Announces Continued Tornado Victim Support With Personal Care Item Collection Drive and “Round Up at the Register”

Donations to support United Way of Greater St. Louis and Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, May 27, 2025 - After a deadly tornado tore through the St. Louis area on Friday, May 16, Schnucks teammates immediately got in action. Within hours of the storm passing through, teammates had mobilized and delivered assistance to the neighborhoods directly impacted. To continue relief efforts, and in response to the community asking how they can help, Schnucks will host a personal care item drive and a “Round Up at the Register”.

Personal Care Item Drive

Starting Wednesday, May 28 and continuing through Friday, June 6, all St. Louis-area Schnucks stores will host a personal care item drive. Customers are encouraged to bring or purchase personal care items and leave them in each store’s respective collection bin. The most sought after items include paper towels, cleaning products, disinfecting wipes, flashlights/batteries, bleach, first aid kits, ponchos, toothpaste/toothbrushes, towels, lotion, rubber gloves, shampoo/conditioner, feminine products, baby products, diapers, toilet paper, soap and deodorant.

Round Up at the Register

Starting Wednesday, May 28 and continuing through Tuesday, June 10, St. Louis-area Schnucks stores will then host a Round Up at the Register. Customers will be able to contribute to relief efforts simply by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar. Schnucks Rewards members also have the opportunity to donate their Rewards points as part of the Donate Your Rewards program.

“Our mission to nourish people’s lives not only includes providing food and sustenance to our customers and careers to our nearly 12,000 teammates, it means responding in times of crisis when our communities need us most - including the neighborhood in North St. Louis where my grandmother opened our first store 86 years ago,” said Schnucks Chairman and CEO Todd Schnuck. “I was able to see the devastation firsthand and it is truly heartbreaking, but we know our customers and community partners share our passion to nourish and restore the community, and we thank them immensely for their efforts and actions in the wake of the storm.”

One hundred percent of all donations from both events will be shared evenly between United Way of Greater St. Louis and Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis.

Immediately following the storm, the Schnucks Community Kitchen was dispatched to the hardest hit neighborhoods including North St. Louis City and the Central West End. During that weekend’s response efforts, Schnucks City Plaza and Schnucks Lindell served as central hubs for teammates and products. Teammates actively delivered thousands of meals directly into the affected neighborhoods as well as to American Red Cross emergency shelters. As those affected by the storm also made their way to the stores, teammates served meals compliments of Schnucks and several vendor partners. This past weekend, Schnucks also sponsored the Urban League’s food, toiletries and resources distribution event and also provided volunteers.
