Sweet and Savory Sausage Bake With Apples and Cheddar

Ingredients
- 8 oz. Schnucks bulk country sausage
- 1 small yellow onion, diced (about 1/2 cup)
- 2 large Schnucks eggs
- 1/2 cup Schnucks 2% milk
- 1 tsp. Schnucks Dijon mustard
- 2 cups apple, diced
- 2 cups cubed sourdough bread (day-old preferred)
- 3/4 cup Schnucks shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly coat an 8x8-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook sausage with onion until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk and Dijon. Stir in apple, bread, sausage mixture and half the cheese. Pour into prepared baking dish and top with remaining cheese.
- Bake, uncovered, until golden and barely jiggling, 20–25 minutes. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Chef tip: Replace apple with diced pears or figs, or a combination.
