Ingredients
Sugar Cookies
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
Royal Icing
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp. milk
- 5 drops food coloring of choice
- 2 tbsp. corn syrup
Buttercream Frosting
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp. heavy cream
- 1 tbsp. pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Beat butter and sugar with mixer on high speed until smooth, about three minutes. Add eggs and vanilla.
- Reduce mixer speed to low. In a separate large bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to wet ingredients.
- Refrigerate dough for forty-five minutes. On a floured surface, roll out dough to about 1/4-inch thick and cut into desired shapes.
- Place shapes on foil-lined baking sheet. Refrigerate for an additional fifteen minutes.
- Bake 6-8 minutes. Let cool until firm enough to transfer to a cooling rack. Decorate as desired.
- In a large bowl, whisk together two cups powdered sugar, three tablespoons milk, five drops food coloring of choice and two tablespoons corn syrup until smooth.
- Beat four cups powdered sugar and 1 1/2 cups Schnucks unsalted butter on low speed until combined.
- Add three tablespoons heavy cream, one tablespoon vanilla and 1/4 teaspoon salt; continue beating until fluffy.
