With these tips, you can get the most out of your spring flowers! Follow along to get longer-lasting blooms, more visually-appealing bouquets and more.
Unmix It Up
Just because you bought a mixed bouquet doesn't mean it has to stay that way!
Unleash your creativity by deconstructing Schnucks floral arrangements to make your own masterpieces. Mix and match a few bouquets, orāfor a more dramatic lookā group flowers by type in a variety of vases and vessels (glasses, jars and pitchers are all fair game!)
For an even more dynamic display, experiment with different heights, trimming your flowers accordingly.
Trim Your Stems
Flowers drink up water through their stems, then deliver the water to the blooms. When you cut a flower, the stem dries up to seal the wound and protect itself. That means the water stops getting delivered from stem to bloom as the stem begins to dry.
You can extend the life of fresh florals by trimming 1 to 2 inches off the bottoms of the stems (at an angle) before adding them to a vase with water. Re-trim the stems every few days.
Clear the Air
A NASA study found that some varieties of houseplants can act as air filters in addition to brightening up your space. Spider plants, variegated snake plants, peace lilies, English ivy and weeping fig are a few of the top plants that remove harmful toxins and pollutants from your homeās air.
