  • 3 1/2 lbs. potatoes
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3/4 cup milk


  1. Add potatoes to a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook until fork tender, 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat and drain.
  2. Add butter to pot and mash until smooth and fluffy, gradually adding milk. Season with salt and pepper, if desired. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
