Fruit Crumble

This Fruit Crumble is a Dietitian-Approved twist on a classic and comforting dessert. It starts with fresh strawberries and our Tropical Fruit Compote, topped with a delicious blend of hearty oats, olive oil and spices.

Fruit Crumble

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Tropical Fruit Compote (see recipe link in notes)
  • 1 cup quartered fresh strawberries
  • 3/4 cup Schnucks old-fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp. Schnucks 100% pure olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. Schnucks cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat an outdoor grill to medium-high. Coat a medium cast-iron skillet with cooking spray.
  2. Set a sieve over a small bowl. Pour Tropical Fruit Compote into sieve, reserving 1/4 cup liquid for later. Combine remaining liquid, drained tropical fruit, and fresh strawberries into prepared skillet.
  3. In a medium bowl, stir together 1/4 cup reserved liquid, oats, whole-wheat flour, oil, salt, cinnamon and ginger until crumbly. Scatter into skillet in an even layer.
  4. Transfer skillet to grill and close lid. Cook until fruit is bubbling and crumble is browned, about 20 minutes. Remove and let cool 10–15 minutes.
